TV Finland is a digital television satellite channel directed primarily towards Finns living abroad. The programming is compiled from domestically-produced quality material supplied by Yle’s channels.

TV Finland satellite distribution to end in summer
Yle Areena will be the main service for Finnish content abroad from now on. Areena's goal is to provide all Finnish programming in the future. In addition to television programmes, you can listen to all Yle radio stations through the service. Through Yle Areena, Yle content and services are available for all Finnish expatriates throughout the world.
The distribution of TV Finland, which transmits Yle television content abroad, will end at the end of June. The distribution will end because the distribution contract is not being renewed. The Administrative Council of Yle confirmed the decision at its meeting on 26 February.
In Sweden, the TV Finland compilation channel will continue to be provided as it has been so far, through special arrangements in antennae and cable reception.
Yle is giving up the satellite distribution because the number of users has decreased. At the same time, the number of programmes in online delivery via Areena has increased, and online distribution technology has developed. At the moment, Areena already reaches tens of thousands of Finns abroad, and the number of users is continously on the rise.
Receiving TV Finland has required a customer contract. The channel has had around 1600 abroad subscribers, and the customer volume has declined in recent years.
