RSO sai ylistävät arvostelut Edinburghissa
Arvioissa RSO nostettiin yhdeksi maailman kiinnostavimmista orkestereista.
Radion sinfoniaorkesterin vierailukonsertit Edinburghin festivaalilla 15.–16.8. ovat saaneet loistavat arvostelut Iso-Britannian mediassa. Muun muassa The Guardian, The Scotsman ja Herald kehuivat arvioissaan RSO:ta, ”yhtä maailman kiinnostavimmista orkestereista”. Ainoastaan pahoiteltiin harvalukuista yleisöä.
RSO on ainoa suomalainen orkesteri, joka on kutsuttu esiintymään Edinburghiin, yhdelle Euroopan suurimmista ja arvostetuimmista festivaaleista.
**** “The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra might not have the glamorous cachet of the Cleveland Orchestra appearing at the festival tonight, but it is certainly an orchestra to be admired.”
“Oramo’s shaping of the music was superb, revealing impressive control over the dangerous tempo shifts and swerves.”
Rowena Smith, The Guardian **** “Oramo and his Finnish band are a fearsome force when in full flight.”
“Concert by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, whose wonderful, wiry, fiery, clear sound will stay in the memory long after they depart Edinburgh today.”
Michael Tumelty, Herald **** “Last night’s second and final concert Festival appearance by the Finnish Symphony Orchestra was irrefutable confirmation that it is surely one of the world’s most exciting and exhilarating orchestras.”
Kenneth Walton, The Scotsman **** “The orchestra’s distinctive sound carries its own special colour: the horn playing in Helios was incredibly special (…) The rest of the orchestra then built their sound around this so that there was a glorious sense of an organic whole growing from a secure base.”
“An evening of subtlety as well as splendour. “
Simon Thompson, Seen and Heard **** “After this blistering performance of Nielsen's triumphantly affirmative masterpiece, the question goes out to Edinburgh: where were you?”
