Police in the western coastal town of Rauma have uncovered a bootleg moonshine still operated by a middle-aged man. He is said to have distilled and sold the liquor for a number of years.

Local police in the province of Satakunta staged a raid on a private residence last Saturday following a tip-off and their own investigations.

Equipment used for the manufacture of illegal liquor as well as quantities of the moonshine spirit were discovered by officers.

The man had also sold the liquor outside the local area. He was detained in custody overnight on Saturday and now faces charges on suspicion of contravening laws which prohibit domestic distillation.
