Cargo loading and lifting equipment manufacturer Cargotec is to shed 168 jobs in Finland. The announcement came at the conclusion of official consultative talks. Previously scheduled lay-offs will also continue.

Cargotec says the cuts in personnel stem from the merger of two business areas as well as current market trends.

A total of 97 employees will lose their jobs at the company’s unit in Tampere. Cargotec employs around 1,300 people in Finland, 550 of them in Tampere.

Cargotec was spun off as a separate company from Kone in mid-2005.
