The Finnish Air Line Pilots' Association, which represents Finnair pilots has announced a ban on overtime and issued a warning that all Finnair flights may be grounded by a strike starting November 16th.

The Association, the SLL, says that the ban on overtime follows the rejection by Finnair of its latest proposal on a new contract for pilots.

The ban is scheduled to come into effect immediately after midnight Saturday night and affect all departures from Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The SLL says that the ban on overtime will remain in force until Finnair and its pilots reach a contract agreement.

A strike threatened to start on November 16th would be a highly unusual move.

During the history of the airline, Finnair pilots have been on strike only once, for two hours during the 1970s, as a part of an action called by their international federation.
