Cold Nights Continue - Frost Threatens Berry Crops

Weather forecasters say frosty nights are to continue. The cold conditions also pose a threat to berry crops. This week's lowest temperature was recorded on Thursday night at Enontekijä in northern Finland where the thermometer dropped to -9.6 degrees Celsius. Temperatures fell to around -6 degrees in parts of southern Finland and further frosty nights are on the way.
Although daytime temperatures are expected to rise next week, forecasters say there will be let up in the cold nights.
Frosty May nights are quite normal in Finland. However, just a week ago daytime temperatures of 25.2 degrees were recorded at two observation stations. This week's temperatures have not risen above 13 degrees.
